The chance of rain has us moving the April 13th birthday party to...Comet Country! Thank you to Clayton High School for agreeing to host us indoors! We just didn't want to give up all of the many activities we had planned - so we're keeping the same time - Saturday, April 13, 2019 - 10:00 AM 3:00 PM but we're moving it two blocks down the street to Clayton High School!
Use the Robertson Street entrance near the beautiful baseball fields! We'll be packing all the fun into the school's two gyms and cafeteria - it's actually even more space than we were planning to have outdoors! That means you can still enjoy a giant birthday cake, free ice cream, food trucks, two bands, a DJ, free kids inflatables, face-painting, circus performers, jugglers, coloring murals, a massive historic photo mosaic mural (post a pic with hashtag #clayton150 right now!), a volunteer fair and much more! The only thing we had to forego is the Deep River Brewing Company 150th beer - you'll just need to head a few blocks down Main Street to the brewery for a sip of Honeyversary 150th limited edition beer!
CLAYTON IS TURNING 150!
1969 was a year to remember in Clayton. The men grew beards. Families dressed in pioneer clothing. There were special tours, three grand balls, class reunions, old-fashioned bargain days with merchants, a Miss Centennial coronation, and a time capsule burial. The Clayton community came together in incredible solidarity to mark the 100th anniversary of our town and now, 50 years later, it’s time for the community to come together again to celebrate Clayton’s Sesquicentennial!
